This week I chose the poem Fitzgerald Flitt (pg. 147). I chose this poem because it actually talks about something happy in this terrible book. Here is the poem and again there is not supposed to be capitals and there may be grammatical issues.
walked with sara chickering.
and little esther to
rehearsal
of the choral society.
caring for that marry little child has changed sara
shes lost her hard edges.
and that bitter sag on her lips look almost kind.
and she smiles.
Rhyme Scheme
Well there is no rhyme scheme because none of the words rhyme.
The Way the Poem Was Printed
The way it separates it in the beginning I almost thought that it was like bad that he walked with them there.
Images I See
When I read this poem in my mind I saw them walking of course and they were all smiling and having a good time and other people are like pointing and staring in like disbelief that he actually is near a little Jewish girl and the person who is housing her.
What It Means To Me/ Connections
What this poem needs to me is that in the mist of the racism some people actually care and have respect for people who are different. I think that I could fit in Fitzgerald's shoes in that way.
Nice job. It made me think of the life Sara had before Esther. Something made her "hard" and unkind. Esther must be one powerful positive force to soften the edges of bitterness. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work. I want to read Witness.
