This week I chose the poem Reynard Alexander (pg 149) and yes the poem doesn't have any capitals in it and there are grammatical problems. This is the poem I used:
the secretary of state of vermont
has rejected the application
received from the k.k.k.
to do business here
to do business here
good.
Rhyme Scheme
The rhyme scheme is a, b, c, d, e. The reason it looks like this is because none of the words in this poem rhyme.
The way the poem was printed
The poem was printed in a way that it separated the major statements.
Images I see
What I saw when I read this poem all of the K.K.K's in a big office and a lady that works for the state of Vermont gives them their application back and on it the words Denied in red ink were on it.
What it means to me/ Connections
What this poem means to me is that Reynard is happy which I would agree with. I wouldn't want people who kill other people who are just like them to be killing other people because of their nationality to be working in my town either.
I love how you elaborated on the images. I had to reread the poem to see if it mentioned red ink. The way the narrator used space before writing "good" changed the tone. At first it seemed angry until you reached that word. Then you realize it wasn't angry it was the tone of satisfaction. Your poetry page is awesome! I'm enjoying each of your pieces and I hope you continue to add your own poems that capture who you are and how you see the world. Keep up the great work.
